Company Culture & Leadership Development
At CEA, Andy took a bottom-up approach to leadership, taking seriously the development of emerging leaders and decentralized decision-making within the company. He led the team to define its core values, and to embed a distinct culture within every department of the organization. For Andy, company culture is a strategic asset that is crucial to fostering employee growth and organizational coherence.
In crafting and leading CEA’s Culture Books, Andy drew upon his life journey, including dealing with personal life challenges such as growing up below the poverty line in St. Louis, struggling with the special needs challenges of his daughter while in China, and navigating a global company during the pandemic. He highlights the importance of family as seen in the eulogy he delivered at his mother’s funeral, and reflections on the loss of his father. Leadership is personal to Andy. At CEA, he successfully scaled leaders within the company, offering insights and support, and fostering a decentralized leadership culture.

At the start of his career, many professionals around Andy tried to deter him from establishing his career in China and entering a commoditized industry such as solar pv, stating that he would never succeed in these endeavors. Over the past two decades in Asia, Andy fed off of the pessimism of these naysayers and proved them wrong.
He learned Mandarin, navigated the complexities of Chinese business culture, and established Trina Solar as one of the leading globally recognized Chinese brands in the industry, through its IPO on the New York Stock Exchange in 2006. He developed a strategic and cross-cultural expertise that no single market can produce. In today’s fast-changing market, Andy delivers a proven global perspective, applying the lessons he learned abroad to the local opportunities that matter most.
